Bob Bailey, 81, of Brighton, passed away on Sunday, July 3 after a lengthy illness. Mr. Bailey was born on February 20, 1941 in Sledge, MS to the late Otis and Bessie Bailey. He was a former City of Memphis Firefighter, self employed construction project manager, served on the Brighton Planning Commission and was the former Building Inspector for the Town of Brighton. He was a member of the Brighton Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon and an Elder. He is survived by his wife, Sherri Bailey; one son, Shane (Paula) Maxwell of Brighton; two grandchildren, Case Maxwell and Noah Maxwell; one sister, Connie Doyle of Goffstown, NH and two sisters-in-law, Tara Bailey Smith of Powder Springs, GA and Delores Bailey of Germantown. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Doyle Bailey and Clayton Bailey. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 11 at the Covington Funeral Home chapel with interment to follow in Indian Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 10 at the Covington Funeral Home.
