Norman Lee Kercher, Jr.

September 5, 1962 — June 20, 2018

Norman Lee Kercher, Jr., 55, of Brighton, passed away at his family home on Wednesday, June 20.  Norman was born on September 5, 1962 in Louisville, KY.  He was preceded in death by his father, Norman Lee Kercher, Sr. and daughters Kendall Marie Kercher and Callie Elizabeth Kercher.  He is survived by his wife Catherine Kercher; his mother, Barbara Kercher of Germantown; one son, Norman Lee Kercher, III, of Nashville; two daughters, Lacey Merritt Deer of Brighton and Lydia (Jeffrey) Perkins of Brighton; one sister, Brenda Ann (Vernon) Smith of Collierville; three nieces, Brittany Herring, Natalee Smith and Barbara Walker and one nephew, Caleb Smith.  His legacy:  Ivy Deer, Kaleigh Miller, Jeffrey Perkins, Lilly Deer, Blake Perkins, Savannah Perkins, Lynnlee Deer, Andrew Deer and Kenneth Deer, Jr.  Norman was a faithful servant of Christ.  He always helped others by directing and re-directing to the word of God.  He was a wonderful husband to Catherine and was an exceptional father to Kendall, Lacey, Callie and Norman, III.  He taught them about Jesus, how to hunt and enjoyed every minute he could spend with them.  He was a great friend to all - always trying to make new friends everywhere he went and always seemed to keep the peace and spread the word of God.  His friends always knew they could depend on him. Norman enjoyed gardening and hunting with his family and loved to share "the harvest" with his friends and family.  He loved to feed people's hearts and minds just as much as their stomachs.  He was a member of the Holly Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Brighton.  After losing his daughter Kendall in 2009, Norman was inspired to create Grovestock Ministries through Holly Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church to assist other families in the celebration of their children's lives and offer help and comfort to each other.  Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 24 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at 4 p.m., all at the Covington Funeral Home chapel.  Interment will follow the funeral service at Indian Creek Cemetery in Brighton.
