Martha Poole, age 86, passed away at her home in Covington on Thursday, October 17, 2024. The widow of Raymon Poole, she was a homemaker and caregiver, tending not only to people but to her gardens as well. Her favorite flowers were pansies and petunias, and working in her garden brought her peace. Much like her husband did, she also had a love for cows and the farm lifestyle.
Ms. Martha was a Jehovah’s Witness and an active participant in her Kingdom Hall, attending in person and as her health declined and she entered into hospice care, listening to services over the phone so she didn’t miss a thing. Mrs. Martha was a kind lady, generous to a fault at times, and always laughing. She was a true joy to be around and had many friends whom she treated like family. She enjoyed spending time with her family and loved her kids and grandkids dearly.
She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Richmond; her sons, Adam Poole and Lonnie Poole; her grandchildren, Tom Richmond, Casey Poole, and Laura Poole; her great-grandchildren, Owen, Aspen, Kaylee, and Avery; her sister, Brenda Grady; her sisters-in-law, Jean Poole and Annie Poole, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Ms. Martha will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, October 24th in the Covington Funeral Home Chapel, with burial to follow in Shiloh Cemetery. Visitation for friends and family will begin at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Ms. Martha’s memory by making donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
