Joe Elliott, 83, of Atoka, passed away on Thursday, June 15 at his home. Joe was born to the late Walter and Lois Elliott in Centerville, Iowa. At the age of 9, the family moved to New Mexico where he lived until moving to Tennessee in 1965. Mr. Joe worked at the old Memphis Area Cattle Feeders feedlot, until it closed in the 70's. He then went to work for Firestone, and in 2013 retired after 34 years as a Tire Loader, all the while staying in the livestock business, working with cattle and horses. He was an active member of the Pleasant Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Deborah Elliott; three step-children, Kathy (Jimmy) McDonough of Munford, Kimberly (Patrick) Smith of Brighton and David (Mary) Starnes of Munford; eight grandchildren, Morgan Adkins, Jackson McDonough, Matthew Smith, Sara Smith, Jace Starnes, Drew Starnes, George (Kayla) Sigler, and Hannah (Abbie) Sigler; one great-grandchild, Georgia Ann Sigler; one brother, Frank (Harriett) Elliott of Bryan, TX and three sisters, Jean (Dick) Isler of Denver, CO, Jane (Kenneth) Gates of Weatherford, TX and Judy (Frank) Pillow of Denver, CO. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 17 at the Pleasant Union Cumberland Presbyterian Church with the family receiving friends two hours prior to the service at the church. Interment services will be private.
