Hubert Leon Cates, 94, passed away on Tuesday, September 10 at his home. Mr. Cates was a retired mechanic and a U. S. Army Veteran.
He is survived by two daughters, Janice (Earl) Bohannon of Ripley and Carla (Mike) Kellum of Burlison; seven grandchildren, Georgetta (Ray) Pullen, Ricky Bohannon, Cindy (Billy) White, Holly (Jay) Tindall, Ashley Nicole Bohannon, Kerri Dale (Steven) Taylor and Michael Groves; 11 great grandchildren, Wyatt (Kyra) Braden, Blair Braden, Joshua Matthew White, Jake Leon Henson, Hannah Mai White, Katie (Christopher) Harris, Christina Sue Cutler, LilliAnn Marie Tindall, Jordyn Rose Tindall, Philip Dashal Taylor and Maverick Steel Taylor; five great great-grandchildren, Lillian Braden, Ricky Leon Henson, Jordan Tylus Henson, Elijah Hayes Henson and Lucas Franklin Harris; three sisters, Thelma Louise Boyle of Katy, TX, Ruth Ann Sprouse of Munford and Marnell (Robert) Maxey of Millington and two brothers, William Quitman (Suk) Cates, Jr. of Bay St. Louis, MS and Albert Harold (Deborah) Cates of Burlison. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Quitman, Sr. and Dorothy Mae Cates; one son, Hubert Leon Cates, Jr.; three sisters, Laura Louise Cates, Doris Pauline Cates and Mary Francis Burnside and three brothers, Elbert Earl Cates, RC Cates and David Lee Cates.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, September 16 at the Covington Funeral Home chapel with interment to follow in Magnolia Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Sunday, September 15 at the funeral home.
