Christine Kidd McCommon of Burlison passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at the age of 89. Ms. Christine worked as a supervisor with World Wide Art Studios in Covington, and retired from her position after 35 years.
She was born in the small community of Cherry, Tennessee on October 15, 1934, to parents Isaac and Mary Elizabeth “Lizzie” Hall Kidd. In 1949, she married Johnny “J.B.” McCommon, Jr., and the two of them were together for almost 37 years, until his passing.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Johnny and Jeanette McCommon; her grandchildren, Janessa (Jeremy) Hester of Atoka, Janea (Troy) West, of Mason, and Julanne (Blake) Caughorn, of Burlison; her great-grandchildren, Brooklyn Rose, Rhett Hester, Gracie West, Hayley West, Brylee West, Houston West, and Lewis Caughorn, and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.B. McCommon, Jr.; her parents, Isaac and Lizzie Kidd, and six brothers, Jacob Kidd, I.C. Kidd, Andrew Kidd, Lemul Kidd, Caleb Kidd, and Eugene Kidd, and four sisters, Janette Max, Nellie Stephens, Nannie Mae Mathis, and Mary Maxwell.
A graveside service at Shiloh Cemetery in Covington will be held on Saturday, October 5th, at 2 p.m. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 12 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Covington Funeral Home on Saturday, prior to the service at the cemetery.
