Charles “Sappo” Sappington, 82, of Burlison, passed away on Saturday, October 16 at his home. Mr. Sappington was a retired maintenance supervisor with Mueller Brass, was a welding instructor with TCAT- Covington and most recently worked at Gateway Tires in Atoka. He was a U. S. Marine Corps veteran and also served in the Army National Guard. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, loved life, loved reading and working on cars. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Linda Sappington; one daughter, Mischelle Hill of Drummonds; one step-daughter, Donna Anderson of Burlison; two granddaughters, Terri Lynn Howard and Heather Anderson; one grandson, Aidan Hatchell; one great-granddaughter, Miranda Howard; his very best friend, Charlie Vandiver and his family and his fur baby, Lacey. Funeral services for Mr. Sappington will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 21 at the Covington Funeral Home chapel with interment to follow in Walton Cemetery. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
