Billy Ray Dycus, 66, of Covington, passed away on Wednesday, March 21. Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday, March 23 at the Shiloh Cemetery in Covington. Mr. Dycus attended Garland Elementary School, graduated from Byars Hall High School and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Memphis in 1975. He was a Licensed Professional Engineer and retired from the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers as a project manager nine years ago. A member of the First United Methodist Church in Covington, he was an avid tennis player, runner and cyclist. He loved U of M football and basketball with a passion along with the San Francisco 49er's. He leaves his wife of 44 years, Paula Max Dycus; one daughter, Emily Dycus McCollum (Kylee Clanton); one son, John Wesley Dycus II, two sisters, Peggye (Wayne) Jackson and Glinda (Clifton) Pruitt; brother-in-law, Brian Moody Max; a very special granddaughter, Jenna Claire McCollum; five nephews and two nieces. The family requests that memorials be made to either the Michael J. Fox Foundation or the First United Methodist Church Food Pantry.
